Slotmad’s ever-growing list of MegaWays Slots

Just a few years ago, no one had heard of Megaways. Then Big Time Gaming introduced the online slot Bonanza, and the “Extreme Volatility” had a new poster boy. The Slot blew up amongst Twitchers and other High Volatility aficionados. Big Time Gaming continued producing variations of the Megaways concept, but they also chose to license the concept to other Game Studios. This has made it go absolutely “bonanzas” with over 40 megaways slots produced so far by 10 different game studios. Blueprint gaming was one of the first studios to jump on the Megaways band wagon, and since then studios such as Scientific Games, Red Tiger Gaming and Relax Gaming have produced their own games with the megaways format.

The most common way of building a megaways slot is to have six vertical reels, and one horizontal reel either on top or under reels 2-5. Each spin will reveal a new number of symbols on each reel, with reel 1 and 6 showing between two to seven symbols and reels 2-5 between two and six symbols (add the horizontal reel and the middle reels thus have a maximum 7 symbols).
