There’s something really comforting about going back to Novomatic slots.

The sounds and the features are so established that they take me back to a more innocent time. A time when a 20x bet was a bit of a baller move for me.

50 Fortune Fruits gave me that feeling. better still the old-school graphics and the immediate accessibility of this game are something that we’ve been missing in online slot releases for a while now.

Some have come close to that instant-feedback style, Casino Win Spin for example or 9 masks of fire but this one has aced it.

You can almost tell how it’s going to play by looking at the paytable.

With a 50-line setup and stacked symbols there’s quite a bit of potential here.

The base game feels streaky, proper Novomatic.

I’ve had a couple of wipeouts followed by a session where I could barely land a losing spin.

Matched 7s have always been as rare as rocking horse poo though.

The game features Wild Jokers, and there are plenty of them.

5 of those nets you 160x, excluding stacks. You can land 8000x if you manage to get them everywhere – good luck with that one!

There is certainly enough in terms of base game win potential to make the free spins feature feel like a nice add-on bonus rather than something that needs to be hit at all costs.

I think the claim to have the added twist of exciting features is a bit of a stretch for a classic style game with stacked symbols, Wilds and a free spins round without any modifiers at all.

I don’t know the exact hit rate for these but it feels like it’ll be about 150 spins or so.

They can’t be retriggered so don’t expect any Captain Venture (or Railroad!) style free spins marathons.

There’s not much going on in the free spins, they are essentially spins that you’re getting for free (remember when that was always the case?). No doubt they have a modified reel-set but it’s not something I could gauge from my 3 bonus rounds.

I think it’s great – a real breath of fresh air.

I can see that it will have its detractors for that but it doesn’t lay claim to be anything other than it is.
