Relic Seekers slot from Microgaming & Pulse 8 – slot review and play for free.
When I first saw Relic Seekers slot I wasn’t expecting much.
Another relic huntersstyle slot. OK, it’s not completely saturated yet and we have had some great additions to the genre recently.
Rich Wilde and the Tome of Madness and The Shadow Order being two standout examples.
This game is from one of the many studios that Microgaming are working with recently.
They’ve been a mixed bag to say the least. Neptune Rising from Plank Gaming is the one that gets the most requests from our SlotMad viewers but there have been a couple of great games, unfortunately they haven’t all been near this standard. It’s early days though and you have to admire Microgaming for taking the positin they have.
So it was a pleasant surprise to find a really nicely made game. Good graphics, a solid Gonzoesque mechanic and well-polished.
Relic Seekers slot – the game
It’s a a 5*3 game with 25 winlines.
The game utilises the Avalanche (cascading, falling) reel system so any winning symbols are removed from the game and another set of symbols drop in until you no longer form a win and you move on to the next spin from your balance.
Standard Wild Symbol. Substitutes for all over symbols except Scatters.
Scatters and Free spins.
3 or more scatter triggers 10 free spins.
3,4 or 5 scatters retrigger free spins.
There’s no additional bonus feature or spins for more than 3 scatters.
Collect Keys feature
Relic Seekers differs from many avalanche reels games here. The majority have a win multiplier feature which advances with each winning drop.
With Relic Seekers each winning drop boosts a energy meter corresponding to the three highest paying symbols.
Each win adds a bar, 2 bars will turn one high symbol wild, 6 bards will turn all the high paying symbols wild.
Summary – Relic Seekers slot
A nice game.
The base game didn’t seem to throw out much for us, although we’re only talking a few hundred spins.
I’m not sure there’s enough here to keep me coming back. What the game most lacks is tension. The kind of tension that makes slot playing immersive at times. That is difficult to create. It can be done simply with extreme volatility or it can be done with putting all the RTP into the bonus game for example.
This game misses on those counts and despite their attempts to create tension with the anticipation spins and animations (which are excellent) it just lacks something.
It’s subjective though of course, and it’s a rare game that hits the sweet spot. Once a game is specced out and built it’s too late to start again to introduce more tension. It’s not as easy making a slot as most people think.
