Riviera Riches Slot Review
At first look Riviera Riches appears to be just another Microgaming graphical update on an old slot machine engine. Yawn.
Look again however and the game begins to get interesting….
The reels in the standard game are just that, standard. The classic movie style graphics aren’t quite done well enough to evoke the atmosphere of the Riviera during the years of the Grand Tour – in truth they just make the game seem old-fashioned, that’s 1990s old-fashioned not 1930s.
The game plays well enough in standard mode, the return seems fair and there is the potential for some nice returns even with just 4 symbols. All good but not exactly exciting.
Then, there’s a twist…
The Bonus Game
You enter the bonus game if you get a bonus symbol anywhere on the 1st and 5th reel. You will then be shown a roulette table and be given two chips to play with.
Select your bet and spin the wheel. you’ll be rewarded with a bet multiplier depending on how you fare at the roulette wheel (there is a corresponding win for any bet). You’ll get a second spin to add to the first and your winnings will be multiplied – in my case I averaged about 12 times bet in the roulette bonus (you can win up to 30,000 coins in the bonus round).
It’s this innovative bonus game that is going to hook a lot of players – although I expect it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.
Free Spins
are awarded with 3 scatters and your 12 freespins (minimum) will each have a win multiplier of x3. You can win up to 190,000 coins during free spins. I got the free spins 3 times in an hour’s play and received 3600 coins, 5300 and 12300 coins.
Wilds
The Riviera Riches symbol is wild and doubles any wins it helps to create.
All in all this game is much better than i first expected it to be. It’s not a game that I’ll be going back to week after week but it will get an occasional spin and I’m sure that some players will absolutely love it.
